Old Havana (Habana Vieja) stands testament to the colorful history of Cuba's capital. There are many spectacular old buildings and museums, from palaces to convents, colonial mansions and old squares, along with shops for browsing and cafes, restaurants and bars to relax in. Despite being a UNESCO World Heritage site, the work of renovation in Old Havana has only scratched the surface. Away from the main sites, the narrow streets are pot-holed and hazardous.
