021/Plaza de Armas Havana Vieja, Cuba.
This is the oldest plaza in Havana, with an old ceiba tree marking the spot celebrating the founding of the city in 1519. Havana was the first American city to have gaslight and the ornate gas lamps which ring the square are still lit at dusk. This image shows the impressive Baroque limestone Palacio del Segundo Cabo (1776). It has a two-storey courtyard and houses the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Institute of books and the Bella Habana Book store.
