The towering Havana Libre Hotel originally the Havana Hilton, this hotel was Mafia financed when it was constructed in the late 1950s. Castro had private quarters here just after the Revolution and used to hold governement meetings in suite 2406-8. This view is picture is taken from the night club on the top floor looking out onto the Atlantic and old town. The roof opens at midnight weather permitting! The old part of the city, Habana Vieja, appears caught in a 1950s time warp. It looks like a film set.
