016/No. 1 Royal Crescent Bath England
Built for John Wood's father-in-law, its first occupant was Princess de Lamballe, whose severed head was later paraded in front of her friend Queen Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution. The next occupant was the Duke of York (of 10,000 men marching up and down the hill fame). Today, see how the Georgians lived in a museum that has recreated a beautiful period interior. Note the metal cone outside the door known as a link snuffer.
