008/Theatre Royal Bath England
The Theatre Royal was originally Richard 'Beau' Nash's home built in 1720. The 'Beau' refers to his extravagant dress and manners, not to his features! Originally a failed scholar, soldier and lawyer from Swansea, he excelled in the organisation of social ceremonies. As Master of Ceremonies he changed Bath into the most fashionable resort in Georgian England. To do this he persuaded the corporation to repair, clean and light the streets and remove beggars and thieves.
