007/Kingsmead Square Bath England
To the junction with Westgate Street, which marks the site of the west gate entrance into medieval Bath (once a walled city). Today only the street names (apart from Eastgate) mark where the gates once stood. To your left is Kingsmead Square formerly a meadow outside the city walls. Notorious for duelling, it was here that the playwright Sheridan fought a duel with the rival suitor of his lady, Elizabeth Linley. His play 'The Rivals', is obviously based on his experience.
