001/Roman Baths Museum
Use the directional arrows to access the different buildings in this yard and throughout this website. To the left is the entrance to the Abbey and the Roman Baths Museum. After the Romans left, much of the city fell into ruin eventually becoming covered with silt when the river periodically flooded. Note the Greek inscription over the Pump Room suggested by Dr. Johnson (who compiled the first English dictionary) "water is best" - a very appropriate statement for Britain's only thermal spa!
